Bobbin Lace Workshop with Jacqui Barber

Jacqui Barber in conjunction with the
Braintree District Museum is holding a Bobbin Lace Workshop

“Tradition into Creation”

On Saturday 26th September 2015

at the Braintree and District Museum,
Manor Street, Braintree, CM7 3HW

This is an opportunity to those who are either complete Novices or have some experience
of bobbin lace to learn or refresh their skills with a leading lace tutor and designer.
Alternatively if you just want to come and play with threads you will be welcome
and it certainly will not be boring.

The beginner will be learning the basic stitch and making a Greetings Card (or a Bookmark) and Jacqui will provide materials with the exception of scissors and notebook. If you are a fast learner and time allows, you may go onto something more adventurous – various choices will be available on the day together with appropriate materials.

It is assumed if you have same experience that you will have your own equipment which we ask you to please bring on the day. You will be trying either a Teddy Bear Scarf or a wider sample which can be extended into a scarf to wear yourself.

You will need to bring 16 pairs of bobbins for the Teddy Scarf or 26 pairs for the Sample, already wound with about 1 metre of thread on each bobbin. They can be wound as single bobbins as we will start with a fringe. You may use any colours and textures that you already have and the Tutor will bring the patterns and extra yarns.

Your own equipment is essential so that you can continue at home to finish your project.

The cost for the day is £25.00 per person including a light lunch
